Martin Gottlieb Rohlfing, 81, of Hermann, MO, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at his home in which he was born on February 7, 1936.  He was the son of the late Benjamin William & Laura (Gumper) Rohlfing.

Martin received his education at the Lower Little Berger School on Rohlfing Road.  He then enlisted in the United States Army in 1958 and served his country until he was honorably discharged in 1964.

He was the husband of Carol (Egley) Rohlfing.  They were united in marriage  on August 26, 1961, at St. James U.C.C., Stony Hill, MO.  Carol survives at their home.

Martin is also survived by his two daughters, Lisa Henneke & husband Glen, of Mt. Sterling, Missouri, and Julie Candrl & husband James, of Columbia, Missouri, by four grandchildren, Luke & Eric Henneke and Adam & Joshua Candrl, and by nieces, nephews, and many cousins.  He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ralph, and his identical twin brother Marvin.

Martin was a lifelong member of Bethany United Church of Christ,  Berger.  He was a board member for the Bethany Cemetery for over 40 years and he was very involved in the care taking & upkeep of the cemetery.  

He was a farmer his entire life in a partnership with his twin brother Marvin. He was active in many local farming organizations throughout his life.  He and his brother received several awards for their farming progress and their conservation of the land they farmed.   He was also employed part-time for D & H Sales as a truck driver and would help with the construction of buildings and grain bins.   He was also an avid John Deere toy and memorabilia collector.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 4th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethany United Church of Christ, Berger,  with Rev. Eugenia Althen officiating.  Burial will be at Bethany Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Bethany Cemetery.  C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
