Joan "Joanie" D. Witzel, 75, of Hermann, MO, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Creve Coeur, Missouri.
Joanie was born in St. Louis, Missouri on July 29, 1942, a daughter of the late Raymond & Dorothy C. (Becker) Umbright.
She was the wife of Bud A. Witzel. They were united in marriage on April 26, 1986, in Florissant, Missouri. Bud survives her at the home.
Joanie is also survived two sons, Donald Alber & wife Linda, of Hermann; and Daniel Alber & wife Amanda, of Wildwood, Missouri, by four grandsons, Nick Alber, of O' Fallon, Missouri; Nathan Alber, of Ft. Worth, Texas; and Ben & Ryan Alber, of Wildwood and by numerous "adopted" extended family members. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Joanie worked as a nuclear clerk for Ameren UE for several years. She also worked at various restaurants in Hermann and at Battocletti's Bake Shoppe.
Joanie was a very caring and giving person. She was always willing to help anyone and never said no if they asked. She enjoyed going fishing, spending time on the river and just being in the outdoors.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 25th from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m.
Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery, Stolpe.
