James A. Wolpert, 67, of Hermann, passed away Sunday, October 14, 2018 at his home.
James was born in Decatur, Indiana on December 5, 1950, a son of the late Louis & Vera (Lengerich) Wolpert.
He is survived by his wife and dearest loving friend, Valerie A. Pearce. They were married on July 29, 2018 in Hermann. He is also survived by two brothers, Michael Wolpert & wife Jean, of Bay Village, Ohio; and Charles Wolpert & wife Sandra, of West Lafayette, Indiana; and by three sisters, Louise Wolpert, of Strafford, Virginia; Rita Wolpert, of Decatur, Indiana; and Teresa Farrell & husband Vernon, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and by many nieces & nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Phillip (Jackie) Wolpert. He was loved and admired by many friends.
Jim had an illustrious career at U.C. Davis in Viticulture and was highly regarded, admired, and respected. He was a kind, intelligent man, and a friend to all. He will be greatly missed.
He was lucky to have his body accepted to Washington University School of Medicine for research. It was his hope in giving this donation that it may aid future doctors in finding a cure for cancer that took his life.
