George Gilbert Garrett Jr. , 76, of Rhineland, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at his home.
George was born in Dyersburg, Tennessee on February 17, 1943, a son of the late George Gilbert & Alleen (White) Garrett.
He was the husband of Jeannette (Crull) Garrett. They were united in marriage on May 22, 1971, at St. John Church, St. Louis, MO. Jeannette survives at their home.
George is also survived by their two children, son, Geoffrey Garrett, of Rhineland, Missouri; and a daughter, Rebecca Garrett & Patrick Tiafay, of Alamedia, California; by two sisters, Janet Scavo, of Denver, Colorado; and Suzanne Grosse & husband Sonny, of Hermann, Missouri; by a brother, Garnett Garrett, of Rhineland, Missouri; and by four grandchildren, Benjamin & Isabel Tiafay and Nicholas & Silas Garrett.
George was a farmer. In his younger years he worked as a millwright setting up mills. In his free time he enjoyed tinkering with old cars, especially Model-A Ford's. He also enjoyed shooting guns, and visiting with family and friends.
He was a member of the Model T Ford Club of America, a former board member of the MFA Co-Op 130 and he was the sexton of the Bethel Methodist Cemetery, of Readsvile, Missouri.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 28th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Methodist Church, Readsville, Missouri, with Mary Maddox officiating.
