Eunice M. Ploeger, 96, of Hermann, MO, passed away Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at Frene Valley of Hermann Stonebridge.
Eunice was born in Treloar, Missouri on January 9, 1923, a daughter of the late John H. & Annie (Schulze) Dothage. She was educated in the schools of Warren County, graduating from the Warrenton High School and then from Central Missouri State College in Warrensburg.
Her first years of employment were in the rural elementary schools of Warren County after which she taught business education subjects in the Wright City School system as well as at Rubicam Business School in St. Louis. Later, she was employed as a bookkeeper for the Cummings Mfg. Company in St. Louis.
On July 10, 1954, she was united in marriage to Carl F. Ploeger in the Smith Creek United Methodist Church in Warren County. They then made their home in Hermann.
After moving to Hermann she became employed from 1954 to 1993 by the Gasconade County R-1 School District, first as a business education teacher and later as district treasurer and accountant in the office of the Superintendent of Schools.
After her retirements, she did volunteer work for the school, Historic Hermann at the Museum, and for the Gasconade County Historical Society at their Hermann Record Center. In her free time Eunice enjoyed reading, fishing with her husband, gardening, and growing African violets.
Eunice is survived by a nephew, David Twillman & wife Stephanie, of Marthasville, Missouri; two nieces, Carol Pinkerton & husband Bob, of Hermann, Missouri; and Anita Eckhardt & husband Carl, of Austin, Texas, also by many great nieces & nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Helen Twillman & a brother-in-law, Ray Twillman.
Visitation will be held Thursday, August 15th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will be held Friday at 10:00 a.m., with Rev. Rodger Kiepe officiating.
Burial will be at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann. Memorials may be given to St. Paul U.C.C. or the Carl & Eunice Ploeger Scholarship Fund. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
