Edna (Frey) Horstmann

Edna Horstmann, 99, of Hermann, MO, passed away Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Frene Valley of Hermann Stonebridge.

Edna was born in Morrison, Missouri on August 19, 1919, a daughter of the late George P. & Caroline (Apel) Frey.

She was the widow of Ervin Horstmann.  They were united in marriage on September 4, 1937, at St. Paul U.C.C., Hermann. 

Edna was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann.  She worked as a shoe cutter for International & Florsheim Shoe Factories.  In her free time she loved doing embroidery work and quilting.  She has made many many baby quilts over the years.  She also thoroughly loved spending time with all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.  They were the apple of her eye.

Edna is survived by a daughter, Betty Van Booven, of Hermann, Missouri; a son, Howard Horstmann, of Hermann, a son-in-law, Bill Howard, of Washington, Missouri, by two grandchildren, Kim Siem & husband Bruce and Kent Howard & wife Janet, by great grandchildren, Cody Siem & wife Jamie, Tyler Siem & wife Megan, Kelley Siem, David Howard & fiance' Krista Rice, Kaela Howard & fiance' Chris Brueggenjohann, and Dustin Howard, and by three great-great grandchildren, Alexis Howard, and Carson & Kendyl Siem.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Carol Howard, two sons-in-law, Jim Warmann, and Elmer Van Booven, eight sisters, Alice Jordan, Gertrude Wilson, Elizabeth Grannemann, Florence Mueller, Nadine Diederich, Geneva Garver, Ardene Kemper, and Arlene Johnson, and by two brothers, Roland & Marvin Frey.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 11th from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Rodger Kiepe officiating. 

Burial will be at Hermann Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to Hermann Area Crusade Against Cancer, Kindred Hospice or St. Paul U.C.C. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
