Daniel E. Thurman, 74, of Montgomery City, Missouri, passed away Thursday, December 6, 2018, at New Florence Nursing Home.
Daniel was born in New Florence, Missouri on April 7, 1944, a son of the late George Webster & Ethel (Jones) Thurman.
Daniel attended school at Whiteside School and then Montgomery County R-II. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966 during the Vietnam War.
He was the widower of Nancy (Millam) Thurman. They were united in marriage on December 31, 1966, in Mineola, Missouri. Nancy preceded him in death on August 23, 2005.
Daniel worked at Harbison Walker Brick Plant in Vandalia for many years. He then worked for Binkley, Flying J, and the Stave Mill in New Florence. In his free time he enjoyed hunting and was a big St. Louis Cardinals fan. He loved a good joke, playing cards, and socializing.
Daniel is survived by his children, Tim Thurman & wife Laurie, of Jacksonville Beach, Florida; Connye Dobsch & fiance' Jovan Vucenovic, of Cleveland, Ohio; and Thad Thurman & wife Amanda, of St. Charles, Missouri; by eight grandchildren, Kyle & Jesse Thurman, Gregory & Anna Dobsch, and Lillian, Allison, Eli, and Grant Thurman, by one great granddaughter, Chloe Thurman, by two brothers, George Harold Thurman and Bernard Thurman, as well as many other family member and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents, by his wife, and one brother, Leonard Thurman.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 13th from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Florence, where memorial services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Brian Larkin officiating.
Burial will be at New Florence Cemetery, with full military honors. Memorials may be given to New Florence Baptist Church. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
