Carl Frank Ploeger, 92, of Hermann, MO, passed away Friday, December 8th,

Carl was born in rural Hermann, Missouri on January 19, 1925, a son of the
late Fritz C. and Caroline M. (Klick) Ploeger. He attended Stolpe Public
School and grew to manhood in that community.  He was confirmed at Zion-St. Peter Church, Pershing, Missouri.

He proudly served his country during World War II, serving in the Army, in
the Philippine Islands and in Japan with units of the 41st Infantry
Division. These were the first American Occupation forces to enter Japan in
the Kure-Hiroshima area.

On July 10, 1954 he was united in marriage with Eunice M. Dothage in the
Smith Creek United Methodist Church, Warren County, Missouri. The couple then made their home in
Hermann.

With the exception of time in military service, he spent his entire life in
the Stolpe-Hermann community.

Most of this working life was as an employee of the U.S. Postal Service in
Hermann, the last nineteen years of that time as letter carrier of the City
Route 1, walking the nine-mile route each day.   He retired in 1983 with over thirty years of service.

After his retirement, he did odd jobs for a number of years and did
volunteer work at the German School Museum and the Gasconade County
Historical Society Records Center. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. For
many years, he and his wife made annual fishing trips to fish in many of
Minnesota's lakes.

He was a member and Past Master of Hermann Masonic Lodge #123 A.F. & A.M.;
the Scottish Rite; Bay Community Post 541, American Legion; National
Association of Letter Carriers; and Charter member of the 41st Infantry
Division Association.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
