Wilbert W. Scheer, 91, of New Haven, MO, passed away at Mercy Hospital, Washington, Missouri.
Wilbert was born in New Haven, Missouri, a son of the late Oscar & Matilda (Pelster) Scheer.
He was the widower of Betty (Drewel) Scheer. They were married on January 22, 1949, at Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven, MO.
Wilbert proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He was a lifetime member and elder of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, New Haven, Missouri, and took care of many other duties at the church. So much that it was said of Wilbert, "if the church lights were on he was there." He was also a member of the New Haven American Legion. He was sexton of the church cemetery for many years and he was a farmer of the family farm he had lived on for 91 years.
Wilbert is survived by a son, Ronald Scheer, of St. Charles, Missouri; a daughter, Sally Leniger & husband John, of Robertsville, Missouri, and a son, Clifton Scheer & wife Sheryl, of New Haven, Missouri; by a grandson, Tony Brune & wife Coleah, of Washington, Missouri; and a great grandson, Owen Brune.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty of 63 years, by two sons, Eugene & Joe D. Scheer, and by a sister Ruth A. Scheer.
Visitation was held Monday, January 2nd from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
Funeral service were held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, New Haven, Missouri, with Rev. Mark Goucher officiating.
Burial at Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery, with full military honors.
