Verona Mary Theissen, 103, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away Saturday, July 15, at Frene Valley of Hermann Stonebridge.

Verona was born in Bluffton, Missouri on August 30, 1913, a daughter of the late Emma (Stiers) and William Gleeson.

She was the widow of George R. Theissen. They were married on March 14, 1931 at Big Springs, Missouri. George preceded her in death on November 6, 1980.

Verona was a member of the Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland. She especially enjoyed flower gardening and the company of her family and friends.

Verona is survived by her five children, sons Lloyd Theissen and wife Ileen of Hermann, Donald Theissen and wife Wilma of Marthasville, Robert Theissen and wife Jane of Washington, Joseph Theissen and wife JoAnn of Hermann; and a daughter, Joni Grotewiel and husband Steve of Osage Beach; by a son-in-law, Don Elkins of Osceola; by four sisters, Bernadine Long of Hermann, Dorothy Markelon of Connecticut, Nadine Clark of Chesterfield, and Pat Bahr of Mexico; and by two brothers, Ralph Gleeson of Fulton and James Gleeson and wife June of Fulton. She is also survived by 24 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, 65 great great grandchildren, and 5 great great great grandchildren. 

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband George; one daughter, Sandra Elkins; 3 brothers, Edward, John and Paul Gleeson; two sisters, Martha Markelon and Marcella Martin; 4 grandchildren, Wayne Theissen, Kurt McGuire, Elaine Theissen, and Tina Staley; and 2 great grandchildren, Scott Theissen and Austin Theissen.

Visitation will be held Monday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will be at the St. Marcus Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Hermann Area Crusade for Cancer C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
