Verniel J. Baumstark, 85, of Hermann, MO, passed away into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Frene Valley of Hermann Stonebridge.
Verniel was born in Rhineland, Missouri on December 21, 1930, the oldest daughter of the late Sylvan & Alma (Van Booven) Heying.
Verniel was the loving wife of Charles Baumstark. They were united in marriage on July 12, 1951, at St. Joseph's Church, Rhineland, Missouri.
In addition to her husband Charles, Verniel is survived by her children, Diane Huxol (Bruce), of Blue Springs, Missouri, Danny Baumstark (Ruth), of Hermann, Missouri, Denis Baumstark (Kathy), of Hermann, Missouri, and Susie Kennison (Russ), of Moberly, Missouri, siblings, Mae Birk (Pee Wee), of Hermann, Monty Heying, of Foristell, Missouri, and Sharon Butenhoff, of Melville, Missouri. She leaves 15 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son Don Baumstark, and by two brothers, Roy & Larry Heying.
Verniel was an active member of St. George Church, Hermann, and a member of the Ladies Sodality. Volunteering at St. George School was a priority while her children attended there. Verniel served as secretary/treasurer of Hermann Lumber Company. She was a talented seamstress, gardener, and all around handy woman and never shied away from any building, refinishing, painting, or landscaping projects. Verniel enjoyed traveling, fishing, playing softball and golfing. She treasured her time spent with friends and family. She has a special love for her 40 grand babies and cherished them all.
Visitation will be held Friday, September 9th from 3:30 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, with a rosary & prayer service at 3:30.
Mass of Christian burial will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Church, Hermann, with burial at St. George Cemetery.
The family requests memorial contributions to St. George Church, St. George School, or Hermann Area District Hospital.
