Shirley Jean Goodwin, 76, of Mendon, IL, formerly of New Haven, passed away Thursday, February 23, 2017 at North Adams Nursing Home,  Mendon, Illinois. 

Shirley was born in Canaan, Missouri on September 8, 1940, a daughter of the late Norman & Lorene (Langenberg) Niewald.

She was the widow of Jerry Edwards.  Jerry preceded her in death in 2008.

Shirley was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, New Haven.  She was a life long caregiver.  She worked at Frene Valley Health Center, Hermann and in private practice.

She was an avid fan of Elvis Presley and owned much of his memorabilia.  She even visited Graceland shortly after his death.

Shirley is survived by a daughter, Glenda Brice & husband Scott, of Hannibal, Missouri; a son, Ron Edwards & wife Kim, of Mendon, Illinois; by five grandchildren, Lindsay Brice, of Climax Spring, Missouri; Kristen Bare, of Fond Du Lac, Wisconsin; Zachary Edwards, of Quincy, Illinois; Allison Scrogum & husband Jeremy, of Graham, Texas; and Cassie Edwards, of Graham Texas, and by two great grandchildren, Jackson Scrogum, of Graham, Texas; and Autumn Edwards, of Mendon, Illinois.

Visitation will be held Monday, Feb. 27th from 11:00 to 2:00 at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, where funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m.

Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, New Haven, Missouri. Memorials may be given to North Adams Nursing Home.  C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
