Ruth M. Laboube, 94, of Hermann, MO, passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Hermann Area District Hospital.

Ruth was born on August 5, 1922, near Hermann, Missouri, a daughter of the late Benjamin & Susie (Patton) Hug.

She was the wife of Virgil  Charles Laboube.   They were married on October 19, 1946, at St. Joseph Church, in Little Berger.  He preceded her in death January 10, 2015.

Ruth is survived by three children, Virginia & husband Stanley Hall, Russell & wife Melody Laboube and Gordon & wife Cindy Laboube,  all of Hermann, Missouri, by sisters-in-law Clarene and husband Warren Grass and LuVerne Schweerkotting, and one brother-in-law Frank Laboube, Jr., all of Hermann, by six grandchildren, Matthew Hall, Rebecca Hall Cassmeyer, Adam Hall, Ben Laboube, Katie Laboube, and Jackie Laboube Landolt, by two step-grandchildren Casey Matthews & Amber Matthews Price, 12 great grandchildren, Serafina and Henry Hall, Ruth Ann and John Cassmeyer, Charlotte Hall, Claire and Addison Landolt, Stella Potter and Aubree Laboube, by three step-great grandchildren,  Shyan Mckee and Kaylee & Owen Matthews and by many nieces & nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, by twin sons that died at birth, by two sisters, Pearl Cappel & her husband James and Margaret Gabathuler & her husband Edward and by a brother Ralph Hug & his wife Marie, by a brother-in-law Harvey and wife Theresa Laboube, by a sister-in-law Laverne and husband Jerome Weber, by sister-in-law Irene and husband Lyonel Schweerkotting, and a sister-in-law Henrietta Laboube.

Ruth attended Upper Little Berger School.  She was a member of St. George Catholic Church in Hermann.  At the time of her death, she was a resident first at the Falls then Frene Valley of Hermann Stonebridge.

After graduating school she went to St. Louis Missouri and worked as a nanny and housekeeper.  During WWII she was an employee of U.S. Cartridge Company doing war related work in St. Louis and then was employed by McDonnell Douglas outlying plant in St. Louis.  She was a "Rosie the Riveter" and worked on both C-47 and A-20 aircraft.  She also volunteered at the U.S.O.

After marriage to Virgil she helped raise a family in the Little Berger area on a farm.  She was a very active leader in both J.F.A. and 4-H.  Many youth in the community benefited from her cooking, sewing, and crafting talents.  She also worked full time for International Shoe Company and the Florsheim Shoe Company in Hermann for 25 years.

Ruth loved to dance and spent many Saturday nights going to dances in the surrounding area.  She enjoyed spending time gardening, canning, painting, and being with family.
 
Visitation will be held Monday, November 14th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.

A funeral mass will be held Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. at St. George Church, Hermann, with Rev. Monsignor Greg Higley and Father Ed Mundwiller officiating.

Burial will be at St. George Cemetery. 

Memorials may be given to St. George Church, St. George Cemetery, or Hermann V.F.W Post 4182.  C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
