Rubin G. Haeberle

December 16, 1921 ~ August 1, 2015 (age 93) 93 Years Old

Mr. Rubin  G.  Haeberle, 93, of Hermann passed away Saturday, August 1st, 2015 at Jonesburg Nursing and Rehab, Jonesburg, Missouri.

Rubin was born at his parents' home in Hermann, Missouri on December 16, 1921, the son of the late Fred George and Emma (Kirchhofer) Haeberle.

Rubin spent his entire life on the farm, which was settled by his great- grandfather in 1864, and he lived there just until a short time before his death.

He was a farmer all of his life, raising cattle and row crop farming.  He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association, Case-Gore Community Club, past member of the Board of Directors of MFA, COOP #130 Rhineland, former member of the Hermann Eagles, and a member of the Warren County Coyote Club.

He was the husband of Melva "Blondie" (Overkamp) Haeberle. They were married February 12, 1946  in St. Louis, Missouri. To this union two children were born, Josie and Janet.

He is survived by his wife Melva, by his two daughters Josie Erfling and husband Wilmer, and Janet Melzer and husband Gary, all of Hermann, by two sisters Viola Kraettli of Macon and Bernice Schroer of New Florence, and by one sister-in-law Mary Overkamp of New Florence. He is survived by two grandchildren Jason Erfling and his wife Jessica of St. Louis and their son Jackson, and by a granddaughter, Johanna Beaudean and husband Paul and their children, Will, Sam and Grant.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother Freddie Haeberle.

Rubin enjoyed farming, he loved to hunt, trap, and make wine. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals baseball. When he was a young man he played on the Case Baseball team, and helped his father run the threshing machine and thresh crops for other farmers. He also drove a stock truck and would  deliver not only his livestock to the Stockyards in East St. Louis, he would also haul other farmers' livestock.  Rubin was a conservationist he was always concerned about his farm and conserving the soil, trying to do everything he could to protect the land.  He was one of the original supporters of the Missouri Levee & Drainage Association.  To his credit wild turkey and ruffed grouse were introduced to central Missouri on his Massas Creek farm many years ago. Wherever Rubin went you would find Blondie right there with him, whether it was farming or deer hunting they were a team. One of Rubin's greatest joys was having the deer hunting gang get together every fall during deer season and serving his homemade wine to visitors at the farm.
