Roger W. Blumer, 83, of Washington, MO, formerly of Hermann, passed away Friday, September 1, 2017 at Grandview Healthcare Center, Washington.
 
Roger was born in St. Louis, Missouri on April 24, 1934, a son of the late Hugo H. & Hulda H. (Fults) Blumer.
 
Roger was raised in Hermann and graduated from Hermann High School in 1952.  He then attended Westminster College, in Fulton, MO, and was a member of Phi Gamma Delta Fraternity.  He graduated from there in 1956.  He then went on to Cincinnati College of Embalming, in Cincinnati, OH where he graduated in 1957.  He entered the US Army in 1958 and was an Army Reservist for six years.
 
He was united in marriage to Kathleen F. Kruse on October 3, 1959 at St. George Church, Hermann, MO  
 
Roger joined the family funeral and furniture business, Hermann Blumer, Inc. and was a fourth generation funeral director.  In 1975, they built the new Blumer Funeral Home on the family property of his childhood home.  In 1986, Blumer Funeral Home was sold to Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.  After leaving the funeral business, Roger ventured into several area.  He achieved his Insurance Agent License, Real Estate Agent & Broker License and Real Estate Appraiser License and worked for 10 years for Millington and Associates, Union, MO.
 
 Roger is survived by his daughter, Gina Leimkuehler & husband Jeff, of Washington, by two grandchildren, Trent Leimkuehler, of Washington & Kelsey Leimkuehler of Kansas City, by a brother-in-law, Larry Kruse & wife Shirley, of Lake St. Louis; a sister-in-law, Norma Kruse, of Shrewsbury, two nephews, Nicholas Kruse & wife Mariamalia, of O'Fallon, MO; and Adam Kruse & wife Molly, of St. Louis, by a great nephew, Lucas Kruse and a great niece, Lucianne Kruse.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife.
 
Roger belonged to many organizations and served in numerous offices for these organizations, especially the Hermann Lions Club which he had been a member for over 50 years. He served at the district level and local level.  He was especially proud of his service with the Lions Leader Dog for the Blind program .  He also became an Associate member of Washington Lions Club.  Other organizations he enjoyed serving include; Missouri Funeral Directors and Embalmers Association, Hermann Jaycees, Hermann Park Board, Hermann Maifest Council, Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce, Frene Investment Club, Hermann Industrial Development Corporation, Hermann Sheltered Workshop, Lake Washington Condo Association, Architectural Committee of the Four Season Racquet Club Condo Assn, Lake Ozark, Advisory Council for Mid-East Area Agency on Aging of Franklin County, Gasconade County Historical Society and Washington Historical Society.
 
Roger was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington.  In his free time Roger enjoyed playing poker and pinochle with his group of friends for over 30 years.
 
Visitation will be held Monday, Sept. 4th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, and on Tuesday from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at  Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington, Missouri, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.
 
Burial will be at St. George Cemetery, Hermann, Missouri. Memorials may be given to St. George Cemetery, Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Washington Senior Center or Hermann Lions Club.   C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
