Richard Louis Panhorst, 73, of New Haven, MO, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Mercy Hospital, Creve Coeur, Missouri.
 
Richard was born in Gerald, Missouri on July 5, 1943, a son of the late Louis & Edna (Pruessner) Panhorst.
 
On September 19, 1964 he was united in marriage to Joan McDonald.  To this union three children were born, Jodi, Jeff, & Jill.
 
Richard was a member of Assumption Church, New Haven, the Knights of Columbus and was an honorary member of the New Haven Fire Department.
 
He was a self-employed painter for Richard Panhorst Painting and Decorating Center.  Prior to that he also worked for Ruether & Logan Painting.
 
Richard is survived by his children, Jodi Gerling & husband Keith, of New Haven, Jeff Panhorst & wife Shari, of New Haven and Jill Kotthoff & husband Chris, of New Haven, by two sister's Elda Rohlfing, and Laverne Raaf, both of Gerald, by seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren,  a dear companion of many years Betty Boehmer and her children, Melissa Malone & Kendra Boehmer and her five grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Harley & Leonard Panhorst.
 
Visitation will be held Thursday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven.
 
Funeral services will be held Friday at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Baptist Church, New Haven, Missouri, with Rev. Joe Nogalski officiating.
 
Burial will be at Ebenezer Stone Church Cemetery, Gerald, Missouri.
 
Memorials may be given to Memorial Baptist Church, Ebenezer Stone Church Cemetery or American Heart Association.
