Neal Charles Schwartz, 88, of Hermann, MO, passed away on Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Frene Valley of Hermann Stonebridge.
Neal was born in Hermann, Missouri on November 1, 1927, the son of the late Elmer J. & Alice (Wild) and Schwartz.
He was the widower of Dorris J. (Stiers) Schwartz. They were married on November 8, 1947, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann. Dorris preceded him in death on December 12, 2009.
Neal proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ Hermann, Missouri, and V.F.W. Post 4182 of Hermann. He was the former president and member of the Hermann I.D.A. and was on the board of directors for River Bluff Industries, where he was had a very active role and was instrumental in getting them moved into a new building in the Industrial Park.
Neal retired from Binkley Manufacturing in Warrenton as a tool & die manager. Prior to that he worked for Ritepoint Pen & Pencil Company and then after retirement he was the owner of Neal's Tool & Die.
Neal was an avid Bearcat fan. He went to many basketball, baseball, and football games. In his spare time he enjoyed boating, welding, and woodworking in his younger years. He was very handy. For his children he built a tree house and many types of go carts.
Neal is survived by a son Kenneth Schwartz & wife Jody of St. Charles, Missouri; a daughter Nancy Carter & husband Bruce of St. James, Missouri; a daughter Connie Aubuchon of Hermann; a son Douglas Schwartz & wife Kathy of Hermann; a son Robert Schwartz of Hermann, a sister Betty Ann Catalanello of Chico, California; a brother Elmer Schwartz & wife Lois of Linn, Missouri; by eight grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, by a son-in-law Max Aubuchon and a sister Frances Stone.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 4th from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann, Missouri.
Burial will be at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann, with full military honors.
Memorials may be given to St. Paul U.C.C. or Hermann V.F.W. Post 4182. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
