Merlin E. Kreftmeyer, 83, of Hermann, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at Hermann Area District Hospital.

Merlin was born in Stony Hill, Missouri on May 5, 1934, a son of the late William & Amanda (Hurst) Kreftmeyer.

He was the husband of Jocelyn (Leibach) Kreftmeyer.  They were married on December 30, 1956, at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann. 

Merlin proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958.  He was employed at American Recreation Products in New Haven for 32 years.  After retirement he continued to assist his son in the lawn service business. 

Merlin is survived by his wife Jocelyn,  a daughter Kim Kolks & husband David, of Rhineland, a son, Jeffrey Kreftmeyer, of Hermann, a grandaughter Erin Kolks, a grandson Jason Kolks & wife Katie, and a great grandson Bentley Kolks, all of Rhineland, a brother Marvin Kreftmeyer of Stony Hill, a brother-in-law Herb Schaefferkoetter, of Gerald, and by nieces & nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by sisters Lorene Edler, Rosemarie Schaefferkoetter, Olga Gawer, Alberta Pehle, and Elsie Shoemaker, and by brothers Earl, Oscar, Eugene, Roscoe, and Oswald Kreftmeyer. 

No services will be held at this time.  Memorials may be given to St. Judes Children's Hospital.  C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
