Melvin Joseph Engemann, 73, of Rhineland, MO, passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at his home. 

Melvin was born in Washington, Missouri on November 10, 1943, a son of the late Elmer & Clara (Bocklege) Engemann.

He was the husband of Barbara (Hansel) Engemann.   They were married on April 24, 1965 in St. Clair, Missouri.   Barbara survives at their home.

Melvin is also survived by six children, Jenny Hoener, of Hermann, Missouri; Christopher Engemann, of Steedman, Missouri; Matthew Engemann, of Rhineland, Missouri; Daphne Raterman, of Rhineland, Missouri; Linda Mealy & husband Eric, of Steedman, Missouri; and Blair Bates & husband Jeremy, of Springfield, Missouri; by a brother, Gary Engemann & wife Cindi, of Rhineland, Missouri; and by 12 grandchildren.

Melvin is preceded in death by his parents, by a brother Ardell Engemann,  a sister Mary Engemann, and by a granddaughter Kristin Hoener.

Melvin was a member of the Tri-County Levy District and Church of the Risen Savior, Rhineland, Missouri.  He was a farmer.

Melvin was very creative and some people even called him an artist.  He donated a lot of his works of art for local fundraisers.
 
A memorial mass will be held Monday, April 24th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Martin's Church, Starkenburg, Missouri.  Memorials may be given to Church of the Risen Savior Catholic Education.  C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
