Marion Joan Rathert, 83, of Washington, Missouri, formerly of Hermann, passed away Sunday, May 15, 2016 at her home.

Marion was born in Hermann, Missouri on August 23, 1932, a daughter of the late Wilbert & Marie C. (Jolly) Baur.

She was the widow of Eldon "Bud" William  Rathert.  They were married on October 28, 1950, at Hermann United Methodist Church, Hermann, Missouri. 

Marion grew up in Hermann.  She graduated from Hermann High School in May of 1950.  She moved to Washington in 2012.  Marion was a member of the Hermann United Methodist Church, a life member of the United Methodist Women, was a Sunday school teacher for 20+ years and a member of the Young Adult Class.  She was an avid golfer and member of Loutre Shore Country Club.  She was also a member of the Hermann Jaycee Wives and Hermann V.F.W. Auxiliary Post 4182.

She worked and retired from Florsheim Shoe Company and Greenville Research.  Marion loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.  She was an excellent seamstress and quilter and a superb cook and cookie maker.  She enjoyed fellowship with family and friends.

Marion is  survived by her three children, Debra Saunders, of Washinton, Missouri, Dean Rathert & wife Regina, of St. Louis, Missouri, and Denise Koeper & husband Jeff, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, by her grandchildren, Kristin Gumper & husband Tony, of St. Charles, Missouri, Cassie Saunders, of Maryland Heights, Missouri, Brittney & Zachary Rathert, of St. Louis, Missouri, Wil, Janessa, & Ryan Koeper, of Grand Rapids, Michigan, great grandchildren, Kate Suzanne (Cassie's daughter), of Maryland Heights, Missouri and Sienna Rose (Kristin & Tony's daughter), of St. Charles, Missouri, and a brother Donald L. Baur & wife Shirley, of St. Charles, Missouri.   She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a brother Ken Baur.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 21st from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m.

Burial will be at  Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann, Missouri.   Memorial donations may be given to Hermann United Methodist Church or Heartland Hospice.  C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
