Margaret (Ballman) Els, 95, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 at Hermann Area Hospital. 

She was born on May 15, 1922 in Jennings, MO to the late John Perry and Bertha (Broemmelsiek) Ballman.

She was married to Wilhelm Els in St. Louis on June 10, 1950, who preceded her in death on Oct. 2, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Marian Davis.

She graduated from Normandy High School on June 5, 1940. She received her teaching degree in French and English from Webster College in St. Louis, MO on June 2, 1944.

She is survived by four sons and a daughter; Louis of Bedford, IA, Ernest (Bobbie) of Cleveland, OH, Walter (DeAnn) of Hermann, MO, Marie (John) Meier of Waterloo, IL, and Albert (Debbie) of Ballwin, MO, eight grandchildren; Tiffany Els of Cleveland, OH, Susan (Bryan) Sappington of Columbia, MO, Emilie (BJ) Braatz of Auburn, WA, Andrea (Martin) Santen of Kaiserslautern, Germany, Scott (Shanna) Ballard of Columbia, MO, John (Christy) Ballard of Bonne Terre, MO, Christina (Luis) Pratts of Dallas, TX, and James Els of St. Louis, MO, and 11 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 26th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will follow at 4:00 p.m.

Burial will be held at Valhalla Cemetery, St. Louis.  Memorials may be given to Hermann Hospital or Hermann Museum.  C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
