Lyonel R. "Buggs" Schweerkotting, 87, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, November 13, 2014 at Boone Hospital, Columbia, Missouri. 

Mr. Schweerkotting was born on Rush Island on August 6, 1927, the son of the late Lyonel R. Schweerkotting, Sr. and Ola (Bratton) Schwerdt.

He was united in marriage to Irene M. (LaBoube) Schweerkotting on October 1, 1949 at St. Joseph's Church, Little Berger, Missouri.  Irene passed away on February 25, 2002.  He then later married LuVern (Schulte) Meyer.  They were married on June 4, 2005 at St. George Church.  LuVern survives at the home.
 
He is also survived by two daughters, Donna Bockting & husband Steve of Hermann and Judy Stock & husband Doug of Hermann, by two step daughters Cindy Agonis of San Antonio, Texas and Vicki Hosack of Houston, Texas, by a sister June Fricke & husband Bill of Hermann, by five grandchildren, Todd Bockting, Tricia Rohlfing & husband Rick, Tara Englert & husband Brian, Amanda Booth & husband Michael and Abbey Timmerberg & husband Ross, by three step grandchildren, Breanne & Zach Riley and Chase Hosack and by five great grandchildren Josh, Kyle & Trey Rohlfing and Sydney & Beau Englert. 

Lyonel proudly served in the U.S. Navy.  He was a member of St. George Church, Hermann, Missouri, the Hermann Lions Club, Hermann Jaycees, Loutre Shore Country Club and was a former member of the Board of Directors for Tri-County Levy District and Hermann Bank. 
 
Lyonel enjoyed spending time with family and friends boating, water skiing and frequent family vacations.  After retiring, he enjoyed playing golf, Tuesday night card club, continued his love for travel, especially cruises, but most of all enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lyonel grew up on Rush Island and took over the family farm.  He continued farming and with his daughter and son-in-law purchased L & S Equipment in 1986.  Farming was a life long passion of his until retirement.

Visitation will be Sunday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, Missouri. 

Funeral Services will be held at St. George Church, Hermann, Missouri at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17th, with Father Bill Debo officiating. 

Burial will be at St. George Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. George Church.  C/O Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
