Lois Marie Brauer

Lois Thompson Brauer, 85, of Hermann, MO. was taken to Heaven on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Scenic View Nursing and Rehab Center of Herculaneum, MO.

Lois was born to Lloyd and Frieda Thompson on January 26,1931, in Cape Girardeau, MO. She was baptized and confirmed in her faith at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Giradeau, MO. Lois was married to Paul Brauer on August 12, 1951. Paul and Lois have four children: Carol and husband Col. Michael Anderson of Dallas, TX., Richard Brauer of Hermann, MO., Robert and wife Kathryn Brauer of Utica, NE. and Susan and husband Richard Francis of Desoto, MO.

She loved being a grandmother to her ten grandchildren; Michelle, Danielle, Robert, Michael, Caroline, Katie, Rebecca, Jennifer, Kathryn and Christian; and her  ten great-grandchildren Mike, Clair and Kate Snow, Tyson and Brantley Pitzer, Blakely Freeman, Avila and Jack Brauer, Sonja Brauer and Bennett Morris.

Lois was an accomplished seamstress, sewing much of her family's clothes and was also an avid gardener with a plethora of flowers in her yard and garden. Hermann also benefited from her green thumb,  with many flowers planted throughout the city. Lois often volunteered at the Hermann City Museum and the Hermann Visitor's Center. She loved to sing, and had been a member of the Hermann City Choir and Shepherd of the Hills Choir.

Lois graduated from Southeast Missouri State and was a Home Economics teacher at Lutheran Central High School and Lutheran High School  North in St. Louis from 1963-1977.

She was preceded in death by her parents Lloyd and Frieda Thompson, her husband Paul Brauer and her great-grandson Bennett Morris. She is survived by her sister Carlyn Thiele.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 4, from 4-8 P.M. at the Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann, MO. The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 5, at 9:30 A.M. at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Hermann, MO. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, MO. at 2:30 P.M.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer's Association and Lutheran High School North in care of Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
