Larry Lee Zimmermann, Sr.

Larry Lee Zimmermann Sr., of New Haven, Missouri,  passed away at 73 years old on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at the Harry S. Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. 

Larry was born in Hermann, Missouri on February 15, 1946. He was a son of LeRoy Harry & Delvine Marie (Speckhals) Zimmermann.

Larry is survived by his mother Delvine Zimmermann; first eldest son Lee Zimmermann, his wife Heather, and their children Nina, Aaron, & Lilee of Washington, Missouri; second eldest son Michael Zimmermann of Gerald, Missouri; first eldest daughter Melissa Zimmermann-Kelley and her son Thomas of Fenton, Missouri; second eldest daughter Mindy Sheible, son-in-law Jason Sheible, and their children Justin, Jacob, Maria, and Maya of New Haven; three sisters Sue Ann Haddock of Wright City, Missouri; Cathy Jean McHenry of Hermann, Missouri; Betty Rose Anderson of Hermann, Missouri; and special friend Ruth Walters of New Haven, Missouri. He is preceded in death by his wife Angelina Alvarado-Zimmermann and father LeRoy Zimmermann.

Larry served in the Army/National Guard and specialized in mechanics. He worked as maintenance technician for Blanke Plastics in Hermann, Missouri, Canam Steel and Tradco in Washington, Missouri, with Eugene Jacquin wood logging, building and installing wood furnaces, and a truck driver throughout the states.

Larry's biggest enjoyment was always helping others, whether you were a family friend or a stranger broke down on the side of the road. He loved being outdoors; going on camping rendezvous and gardening with his friend Ruth, maintaining his property, and repairing his yard equipment. And most importantly, he loved spending time with his family...especially his grandchildren. He worked hard to create a special, fun hangout by his lake for his family and friends to enjoy. He was always out there making improvements and add-ons. Larry was the kind of person that never knew a stranger and would have done anything for anyone in need. 

Visitation will be held Friday, December 20th, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home in Hermann, Missouri. A memorial service will follow at 7:00 p.m.

Larry is a Veteran of the Army Branch & his family request that any donations be given to Harry S. Truman VA Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.   C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
