Joyce L. Smith, 74, of New Haven, Missouri, passed away on Sunday, June 21, 2015 at her home.
Mrs. Smith was born in Potosi, Missouri on December 7, 1940, the daughter of the late James and Theresa (Stanley) LaMarque.
She was the wife of David L. Smith. They were married August 8, 1959 at Pacific, Missouri. David survives at the home.
Joyce is also survived by a daughter Deborah Carter & husband Gregory of St. Louis, by two sons David LaMarque Smith & wife Natasha of Ellisville and Jason K. Smith & wife Pamala of Columbia, a sister Gloria LaMarque of Florissant, a sister-in-law Delores Greenlee of Atlanta, Georgia, by nine grandchildren, Jonathan Miller of St. Louis, Rachel de Guzman & husband Arjay of St. Ann, Joseph Miller of St. Louis, Cameron Carter of St. Louis, Kaiya Smith of Ellisville, Taj Smith of Ellisville, Tommy Coates of Columbia, Briana Coates of Columbia and Leo Smith of Columbia, by a great grandson Andrew de Guzman and a great granddaughter Gabriella de Guzman of St. Ann and by many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and a brother James Theodore LaMarque.
Joyce was a member of New Haven United Methodist Church, the New Haven Preservation Society and the Kansas City Monarch Museum. She was a former member of the New Haven School Board and the New Haven City Planning and Zoning.
Joyce worked as a medical assistant and office manager in a medical office. She enjoyed traveling, attending church, administering to the sick, especially to children, reading, dancing, sewing, doing crafts and baking.
Visitation will be Wednesday 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, New Haven, Missouri, where funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m., with Rev. Don Covington officiating.
Burial will be Thursday at 11:15 a.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.
