Joseph (Joe / J.D.) Kuhn, 79, of Gasconade, MO, passed away suddenly, Friday, October 2nd, in  Hermann. 

Joseph was born in Arrow Rock, Missouri on May 24, 1936, a son of the late Lucille Marie (Tuncil) and Clyde  E. Kuhn, Sr.

Joe graduated from Hermann High School in 1956, he so enjoyed being in the band and enjoyed the saxophone for many years afterwards. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961 and in the Missouri Army National Guard from 1961 to 1963. After his discharge from the military he was employed by McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Corp.(now Boeing Corp.) in St. Louis.  Joe enjoyed his work as a radio operator.  In 1995 he retired from McDonnell Douglas with over 30 years of service. One of his highlights while working there was the opportunity to go up in one of the jet planes. After his retirement he moved back to his hometown of Gasconade to be near his family. He then began volunteering at the Hermann Area District Hospital in the Auxiliary. He loved being with the residents and helping them, as well as delivering meals.

He was a member of First United Pentecostal Church, Hermann, MO. He was a member of the New Life Pentecostal Church, Bridgeton, MO before moving to this area. He was a member of the Hermann Area District Hospital Auxiliary. 

He was the husband of Marjorie (Sanders) Kuhn.  They were married on November 1, 1958 at Kennett, Missouri, and she survives in the home. He is also survived by two sons Donald Lee Kuhn and wife Lisa, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; and Richard Lee Kuhn and wife Vicki, of Hollister, Missouri; by three sisters, Jane Peters and husband Harold, of Hermann; Ann Calvert and husband Jerry, of Brunswick, Missouri and Jeanne Kuhn, of Gasconade,  he is survived by one brother, William Kuhn and wife Marilyn, of Hermann. He leaves a host of family on the Kuhn and Tuncil sides as well as the Sanders family he  married into.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Clyde Kuhn Jr. and his wife Virginia and by a sister Clydine Hensley.

Visitation will be  Monday, October 5th from  4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, October 6th, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Pentecostal Church, Hermann, MO, with Rev. B.W. Masters officiating. 

Interment will be at Gasconade Cemetery,  Gasconade, Missouri, with full military honors.
