John R. "Jack" Brink, 91, of Hermann, passed away Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at Harry S. Truman VA Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.
Jack was born in Flint, Michigan on October 16, 1924, a son of the late Francis and Madelene (Knight) Brink.
He was the widower of Elizabeth "Betty" (Meade) Brink. They were married on September 13, 1947, in University City, Missouri. Betty preceded him in death on December 17, 2009.
Jack proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII. Jack was a member of Patton's 3rd Armor division and helped liberate Dachau concentration camp. He was a member of the Painter's Union #2 in St. Louis for more than 35 years.
In his free time Jack enjoyed his family, farm, as well as watching his favorite baseball team the St. Louis Cardinals.
John is survived by his six children, Vickie Heil & husband Michael, of Lake St. Louis, Missouri; Jacklyn Rosen & husband Steve, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; John Brink & special friend Patty Bruce, of Hermann, Missouri; Rebecca Hagedorn & husband Larry, of Rhineland, Missouri; Jennifer Brink & special friend Boyd Thompson, of Hermann, Missouri; and James Brink & wife Marie; of Hermann, Missouri, by a brother, Frank Brink, of St. Petersburg, Florida, 14 grandchildren , 17 great grandchildren, and many nieces & nephews. Of course we can not forget his true companions, his loving dogs Fred & Ruby. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a sister-in-law, Theresa Brink.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 21st from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 a.m., with Ben Grosse officiating.
Burial will be at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis, Missouri. Memorials may be given to Shriner's.
