JoAnn S. (Scheer) Walkenhorst

JoAnn S. Walkenhorst, 80, of New Haven, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018 at Mercy Hospital, Creve Coeur, Missouri.

JoAnn was born in New Haven, Missouri on March 30, 1938, a daughter of the late George & Edna (Nething) Scheer.

She was united in marriage to Milfred E. Walkenhorst on October 5, 1963, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, New Haven. Milfred preceded her in death on April 14, 2006.

JoAnn was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. She was very active with the church, she taught Sunday School for 30 years, was the church custodian, and also cut grass at the church cemetery. She also worked at Langenberg Hat Factory for a few years.

In her free time she enjoyed visiting with family and friends, watching game shows and gardening.

JoAnn is survived by her three children, Kevin Walkenhorst, Connie Walkenhorst, & Duane Walkenhorst & friend Diane Kopmann-Scheer, all of New Haven, by a sister Alice Streck, of Hermann, and by two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Scheer, of Hermann, and Verna Kleinheider, of Washington. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers Robert & Orville Scheer

Visitation will be held Saturday, April 14th from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, where funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Mark Goucher officiating.

Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may be given to Bethlehem Lutheran Church Organ Fund. C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
