Helen H. Vieth, 87, of Hermann, MO, passed away Friday, May 26, 2017 at Frene Valley of Hermann Stonebridge.
 
Helen was born in Hermann, Missouri on September 2, 1929, a daughter of the late Arthur & Helen (Ruediger) Hartke.
 
Helen was the widow of Leroy F. Vieth.  They were married on June 16, 1951, in Hermann, Missouri.   Leroy preceded her in death on February 9, 1986.
 
Helen was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann.  She worked at Florsheim Shoe Company as a top stitcher for almost 40 years before the factory closed. She then went on to manage the Deutsche Schule Arts and Crafts Shop at the German School for several years. Later she worked at the Hermann Visitors Center assisting Hermann tourists with information about the town.

Helen was a member of Historic Hermann for 20 years and served on the German School Board which managed the operations of that building.  She loved all forms of handiwork including sewing, crocheting, knitting and tatting. At a young age, Helen was a very talented artist, particularly with pen and ink. Helen also loved to garden and tend to her beautiful African Violets and other house plants.
 
Helen is survived by a daughter, Susan Nichols & husband Eric, of Portland, Missouri; a daughter-in-law, Tarey Vieth, of Hermann, and by two granddaughters, Molly Nichols, and Elsie Vieth, both of Hermann.  She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her son, Gary Vieth.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, May 31st from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, where a memorial service will follow  at 11:00 a.m., with Rev. Rodger Kiepe officiating. 
 
Burial will be at Oak Haven Memorial Gardens, Hermann. 
 
Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association or Historic Hermann, Inc.   C/O Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home.
