Harold Joseph Scheidegger, 84, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Harry S. Truman VA Hospital, Columbia, Missouri.
Mr. Scheidegger was born in Little Berger, Missouri on September 28, 1930, the son of the late Theodore and Amanda (Mueller) Scheidegger.
He was the widower of Ida Mae (Van Booven) Scheidegger. They were married on February 13, 1954 at Rhineland, Missouri. Ida Mae preceded him in death on August 20, 1994.
Harold proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954. He was a member of St. George Church of Hermann, the Hermann V.F.W. Post 4182, Hermann Lions Club, Hermann Eagles and the Knights of Columbus.
Harold was a mechanic and loved to work on cars since he was 12 years old. He owned and operated DX Service Station in Hermann from 1961 until his retirement. He was also a cattle farmer, he checked on his cattle daily and he loved deer hunting.
Harold is survived by his five children, son Harley Scheidegger of Hermann, daughters Susann Smith & husband Todd of Hermann and Cynthia Finder of Washington, by a son Douglas Scheidegger & wife Stacie of Washington and a son Neal Scheidegger & wife Gail of Hermann, by a brother Elmer Scheidegger of Jefferson City, a sister Adeline Kemper of Morrison and a brother LeRoy Scheidegger of Columbia, by 13 grandchildren, Ryan, Jarrett, Kayla, Tessa, Lindsay, Colby, Derek, Austin, Brandon, Cameron, Zach, Chelse and Whitney and nine great grandchildren, Rhys, Rhet, Savannah, Iszabelle, Seth, Anna, Carter, Landon & Cole. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and two brothers Marvin & Ervin Scheidegger.
Visitation will be Tuesday 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, Missouri.
Funeral Services at St. George Church, Hermann, Missouri at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 19th, with Father Bill Debo officiating.
Burial will be at St. George Cemetery. Memorials may be given to St. George Church or Hermann Area Crusade Against Cancer. C/O Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
