David W.  Schulte, 53, of Hermann, MO, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Hermann Area District Hospital, Hermann, Missouri.

David was born in Washington, Missouri on October 25, 1962, the son of James and Gladys (nee Poeschel) Schulte of Hermann.

Dave attended and graduated from Hermann High School in 1981. On April 20, 1985 he married Lisa (nee Baumstark) at St. George Church, Hermann, MO. To this union two sons were born Travis and Brett.

He was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Hermann; Hermann Volunteer Fire Dept.; Hermann Area Ambulance District-Board of Directors and current Treasurer; Gasconade County E-911 Board member; Hermann Eagles, Community Foundation of the Ozarks-Hermann Area- Board member.

David  is  survived by his wife Lisa of the home; by his parents James and Gladys Schulte, Hermann; by two sons,Travis and wife Jennifer Schulte and their son  Nolan, Hermann; Brett Schulte and fiancé Katelyn Witte, Union; sister Lisa Epple and husband Brian, Washington; father and mother-in-law Joe and Judy Baumstark, Hermann; brother-in-law Chris Baumstark, Hermann; sister-in-law Lori Baumstark, St. Louis, by a niece and nephew Hattie and Ian Baumstark, both of Owensville, by aunts, uncles cousins and many friends.

Dave enjoyed being outdoors, whether he was hunting, fishing, boating or camping, he enjoyed it all. He was dedicated to spending time with his family especially his grandson Nolan.  To say that Dave's life was dedicated to public service would be an understatement. Dave is the epitome of what small town firemen are to this area and our county. Dave followed in the footsteps of his father, when he joined the Hermann Area Volunteer Fire Department in 1982. It wasn't long thereafter that he became "Assistant Chief", which he did for several years. He then took over as the "Chief" which was his currently position and he has held this position for 18 years. Dave's son Travis has followed in this family tradition, and he is also a fireman for the Hermann Volunteer Fire Department. Dave was highly respected in other community fire departments, because of his dedication and his willingness to work and get along with other departments. Dave's devotion also extended into the Hermann Area Ambulance EMS board where he served for 12 years, and was currently the treasurer. He served on the Gasconade County E911 Board of directors for 6 years. He recently was appointed to the Board of directors to the Hermann Area - Community Foundation of the Ozarks. He also was a life-time Eagle Scout. Dave loved his job working as the caretaker of Cedar Knoll Farms for Jack and Janet Baumstark. It was a special relationship between Dave and Jack that will be cherished by Dave's family.
