Alma was born near Americus, Missouri on August 2, 1934, a daughter of the late Fredrick & Alida (Bucker) Eldringhoff.

She attended school in Americus and St. Martin's School at Starkenburg.  She was very proud that at age 55, she and her sister Marie received their GED together.

Alma was a member of St. George Church and her faith was very important to her.

She worked in the shoe factory, cleaned houses and later worked 25 years in housekeeping at Hermann Hospital, retiring at age 78.  Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her grandchildren, shopping at Wal-Mart, watching old movies, listening to old music, playing the piano, collecting brooches and coins.  She loved making bread and was well known for her great cinnamon rolls.

Alma was preceded in death by her son, Douglas Heying, her husband, two brothers, Leonard & Vincent, four sisters, Modesta, Geraldine, Jeanette and Marie, six brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law.
