Alicia Rene Welch, age 24, of Union, Missouri, formerly of Hermann, was born on February 21, 1991.  She was granted her angel wings on Saturday, November 28, 2015 after suffering complications from a lifelong  illness of Spina Bifida.   She was able to remain in her home, surrounded by her family, friends, caregivers and her furry friends Molly, Bogie, Lucy, Scout and Scooter.

Alicia faced many challenges in her lifetime, but she remained strong and resilient through it all.  She showed her family that each day they lived was a blessing.

Alicia had many friends and they learned from her that is not be taken for granted and that each any every moment of our lives are the opportunities to create some wonderful memories.  The memories of Alicia will be forever in the hearts of all that knew and loved her. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, warm heart and the love she was so generous to give.  She touched the lives of everyone she knew.  Alicia passed on to all that the quality of existence far exceeds the quantity of time in which one lives.

Alicia enjoyed being around her family and friends.  She absolutely adored children and her dream was to someday be married and to adopt children.  She was the special aunt to Ayanna & Colton Towery both of Union, Missouri and to Slater Welch of Columbia, Missouri.  She loved them dearly and enjoyed every moment she spent with them.

Alicia spent her last year with some very special nurses that she loved dearly.  There were many crazy card games played and crafts made.  Alicia fulfilled her dream of being baptized on June 28, 2015 by her very special friend Chaplain James Austin.

Alicia is survived by her mother Julie Wright  & very special step-father Gerald Wright of Union, Missouri, by her father John Welch of Manchester, Missouri, by two sisters Amanda Creek & husband Johnnie of Union and Amy Welch of Columbia, Missouri, by two step-sisters April Wampler & husband Lee of Republic, Missouri and Cassandra Wright of Union, by her paternal grandmother Anna Welch of Ballwin, Missouri and step-grandmother Geneva Wright of Union and by aunts, uncles and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Randy & Imogene Whitehead, paternal grandfather Neal Welch and cousins April St. Onge and Derek Whitehead.
