Floyd William Witthaus

Floyd William Witthaus, 88, of Hermann, Missouri, passed away on Friday, April 22, 2011 at Frene Valley Health Center.

Mr. Witthaus was born in Morrison, Missouri on January 5, 1923, the son of the late Rudolph and Mathilda (Birk) Witthaus.

He was the widow of Margaret Mae Witthaus. They were married June 3, 1944 at Morrison, Missouri, she preceded him in death in 1986.

Floyd was a member of St. George Catholic Church, Hermann, MO. He was a farmer and lifelong Mechanic. He started as a mechanic at the Peters International and Chevrolet Dealership in Morrison in 1939. He has worked as a mechanic at several different dealerships around the St. Louis area including Studebaker, Chrysler, Hudson and of course, Ford. In 1947 he began working with George Rethemeyer at the Ford Dealership located in what was part of the Hermann Lumber Co. building, and worked in the present Hermann Ford-Mercury dealership which was completed in 1953. Floyd did most of the service work on Medium Trucks, major engine overhauls, brake and rear axle work, and general mechanic troubleshooting. He was shop Foreman at Hermann Ford and after 46 years with Hermann Ford he retired to care for his wife in 1986.

Floyd is survived by six children, a son Robert A. Witthaus & wife JoAnn, daughter Judy A. LeBrell & husband Stephen, son William R. Witthaus & wife Karen, daughter Deborah S. Vanausdoll & husband Myron, son Kevin L. Witthaus & wife Janet and son David W. Witthaus & wife Sheila all of Hermann, Missouri, by two brothers LeRoy Witthaus and Don Witthaus & wife Adlee, three sisters Talitha Winkelmann, Loretta Whithaus and Darla Jean Jones, brothers & sisters-in-law Vera Buscher, Ida Faye Brandt & husband Otto, Rosemary Kattelmann & husband Robert, Louis Winkelmann & wife Evelyn, Pauline Oberg & husband Gilbert and Beverly Haeffner & friend Faye.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Stephen LeBrell, II and wife Linda, Stephanie (LeBrell) Stoltman & husband Kenneth, Becky (Witthaus) Theissen & husband Wes, Jason Witthaus & wife Summer, Mark Witthaus & wife Mary Ann, Justin Witthaus & wife Jennifer, Jessie Witthaus & wife Krystal, Heather (Trevino) Hale & husband Eric, Brandi Trevino, Amanda Witthaus, Jonathan Witthaus, Kristin Witthaus, Jordan Trevino and Paige Witthaus, two step grandchildren Cynthia Endsly & husband Jim and Gary Vanausdoll & wife Torrie, 16 great grandchildren, five step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 42 years, sisters-in-law Rosella (Winkelmann) Bell and Gertrude (Thuli) Witthaus and brothers-in-law Raymond Haeffner, Oscar Buscher, Ben Whithaus, Robert Jones and Alfred Winkelmann.

Visitation will be Monday 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Toedtmann & Grosse Funeral Home, Hermann, Missouri.

Funeral Services will be held at St. George Church, Hermann, Missouri at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 26th, with Father Edmund Mundwiller officiating.

Burial will be at Assumption Cemetery, Morrison, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George Stain Glass Window Restoration. C/O Toedtmann-Grosse Funeral Home.
